After the contestants strutted their stuff on stage, we offered a viewing of five-minute silent film version of The Audition to give the judges time to calculate the points.  It took more than five minutes though, so we played Baby Got Brass to rave reviews! After that, we still needed a bit of time, so I opened the mic up to a few aspiring comediennes (at least I don’t remember any Gents stepping up to the mic) from the audience, but only after telling my favorite punchline.  Finally, the winners were in!

• Best Concept: Suzy Q the Scarlet Seamstress
• Best Showmanship: Henry Stubbs from the Airship Ace of Spades
• Best Introduction: Bret “Sas-o-Frass” O’Dalaigh from the Airship Ace of Spades
• Most Alluring: Odette Von Kasek from the Airship Passepartout
• Most Elaborate: Lady Beatrix McCormick
• Best in Show: The Human Locomotive who was immediately recruited into the Airship Passepartout

Judges were Dr. Mortimer J. Torque of the Abolishers, John Strangeway the Steampunk Boba Fett, and Alex Johns of The Ford Theatre Reunion.

I’m hoping soon that the the kind gentleman who captured the entire hour’s worth of Fashion on tape will be so kind as to share the footage.  I know I had a rip roaring good time as Hostess and can’t wait to do it again!

The whole assembly is about 14 inches across. The final wingspan will be about 7 feet. Stay tuned for updates as the build progresses.

Steampunk Rolls into Roswell this Weekend – Roswell, GA Patch.

The Steampunk fantasy world will come alive on the grounds of Barrington Hall this weekend, Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. With one foot in the past and one in the future, experience the lush and highly imaginative world of Steampunk with multimedia exhibits, demonstrations, music, live theatre and intriguing visuals.

Exhibitors include Penny Dreadful Productions, Apparition Abolishers, Daniel Valdez’s Steampunk Professor X and Company, Paige G. Smith, Dim Horizon Studios, Meghan Maude, and many more. Enjoy live music from Vauxhall Garden Variety Players, Ghosts Project, and Valentine Wolfe. Even Shakespeare goes Steampunk as the North Fulton Drama Club ensemble ”puts a gear on it” in their steam-powered version of The Tempest.

It does my geeky little heart proud that the Groom’s Processional was the Throne Room Theme from Star Wars: A New Hope.

Making his debut at this Exposition is Brassy Galore’s faithful metal companion, Grover Marland the Second. Brassy encounters more than few spooks and spirits in her line of work, and most of them are not at all civilized. For detection of such malevolent beings, Brassy is always sure to have Grover loyally standing by her side. His special mechanical sensory devices are able to detect the faintest traces of ectoplasmic material and his flashing tail beacon provides a warning that is easily seen in dark places. He is tenacious in his defense of Brassy, lending credence to stories of his power source being derived from the soul of a particularly fierce chihuahua.

Here’s couple of behind the scenes photos of the production of the Feegee Mermaid’s containment device. As you can see, it is being lovingly crafted by hand and quality inspected by some of the lovely ladies of Clocktease Burlesque. You can trust their judgement because they have the obvious good taste and style to appear in public with our Mustache-on-a-Stick, which will be available at the Exposition this weekend.

Today’s sneak peek is the always delightful Mustache-on-a-stick, modeled here by two of the lovely ladies of Clocktease Burlesque. We offer a variety of styles for the discriminating gentleman (or lady!) in three colors: black, brown and soulless ginger.

A wise man once said, “Oh, my god, no. Please! What is that? Don’t tell me!” He very well could have been gazing upon the wendigo, seen here for the first time in the leathery flesh. There is an interesting back story as to how the Abolishers collected such a dangerous trophy, but you will have to come to the Exposition to learn the horrifying details. Let’s just say that Canada isn’t all just poutine and manners.

It is a magnificent 16″ x 24″ hand printed sign that incorporates metallic inks for maximum steampunkery. It is not easy to craft something of this beauty and quality, so it is limited to a 100 print run and we can only make these available to donors of our Kickstarter effort. We know that cryptid fans everywhere are a little tired of seeing photos of mangy coyotes being peddled as the legendary goat-sucker, so we are extremely proud to have on display this authentic specimen. This is only the tip of a horrifying iceberg that is the full body of the creature.

Stalwart Abolisher Jasper Dunlap has had more than his fair share of encounters with this loathsome creature. The chupacabra is well-known among the pioneers of the West as a capricious, tenacious predator of livestock, particularly when it comes to goats. Packs of these murderous beasts can eliminate an entire herd within minutes, leaving only a few thoroughly gnawed bones in their wake. In times of want, the chupacabra has been known to actually stalk any vaquero unlucky enough to be traveling alone amidst the wastelands of the American desert. Fortunately, one can be alerted to the presence of chupacabras by their ferociously powerful scent, which is reminiscent of curdled milk and manure.
